Birth Chart
Birth Chart Calculator
Find your Sun, Moon and Rising signs and calculate your complete birth chart from your birth date, exact time and place.
Your Rising sign depends on the exact time and place of birth, because the Ascendant moves through all twelve signs over the course of a day. An accurate birth time therefore makes the calculation more precise. If you don't know your birth time, the calculator still shows your Sun and Moon but leaves out the Rising sign and houses.

Dispositors
A dispositor is the ruler of the sign a planet is in (traditional rulers, without Uranus, Neptune and Pluto). The chain ends at a planet in its own sign.
Sect
The day sect is the Sun, Jupiter and Saturn, the night sect the Moon, Venus and Mars (Vettius Valens, Anthology II.1). Mercury takes no side here.
Nakshatras and Vimshottari Dasha
A Vedic view of the same birth. Positions are in the sidereal zodiac, so the signs may differ from a tropical chart.
Grahas
Vimshottari Dasha
Without a birth time the lagna and dasha are left out: the Moon crosses almost a whole nakshatra in a day, so the dasha dates would shift by years.

Discuss your chartWhat are your Sun, Moon and Rising signs?
Your Sun, Moon and Rising signs are the three placements astrologers usually look at first, and together they are often called the Big Three. The calculator above shows all three alongside your complete birth chart.
Sun sign
Your Sun sign describes your core identity, conscious direction, willpower and the way you express yourself. It is the sign you read your daily horoscope for.
Moon sign
Your Moon sign relates to your emotions, instincts and inner needs, and to what gives you a sense of safety.
Rising sign (Ascendant)
Your Rising sign, also called the Ascendant, is the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment you were born. It describes how you step into new situations, the first impression you make and how you present yourself to others.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the Big Three in astrology?
- The Big Three are your Sun sign, Moon sign and Rising sign – the three placements that give the quickest overview of a birth chart.
- Is Rising the same as Ascendant?
- Yes. Rising sign and Ascendant refer to the same point in the birth chart: the sign rising on the eastern horizon when you were born.
- Do I need my exact birth time?
- An exact birth time is especially important for calculating the Rising sign and houses. Without it you still get your Sun and Moon signs and the planetary positions for your birth date.
- Can my Sun, Moon and Rising all be different signs?
- Yes. Each is calculated from a different point in the sky, so they can fall in three different zodiac signs – or share the same one.
